  • Legal Assistant

    Bishop & McKenzie LLP has an opening for an experienced Legal Assistant for their Calgary office. We are looking for a full time, enthusiastic, motivated person.

    Key Functions:
    • Prepare documents based on written instruction or verbal direction
    • Proofread and edit all documentation for grammar, spelling, and content accuracy
    • Maintain diary systems for all stages of a file
    • Draft and prepare letters, e-mails and accounts
    • Draft and prepare necessary requests with accounting department to move funds
    • Arrange appointments
    • Post time sheets, prepare letters, and accounts
    • Trouble shoot any unusual problems
    • Dictation
    • Draft and prepare reports and bills to banks and clients

    • Legal Assistant certification preferred
    • At least one year of direct work experience in Litigation
    • Strong knowledge of basic legal concepts, principles, and terminology
    • Thorough understanding of legal documentation
    • Good understanding of legal reference materials, procedures and legal filing systems
    • High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and diplomacy
    • Meticulous records maintenance skills

    Working Conditions
    • Ability to work in a high paced, high volume desk with many interruptions
