Stuart’s practice includes commercial real estate and project land transactions. He has extensive experience with respect to a broad range of commercial real estate and land matters, under both the Land Titles Act (Alberta) and the Public Lands Act (Alberta). Of note is Stuart’s experience and knowledge of pipeline and midstream matters, telecommunications real estate matters, land assembly for development purposes, compliance with the Foreign Ownership of Land and Regulations of Alberta respecting acquisitions of land by foreign controlled entities, leasing matters, condominium matters and the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate.

Other areas of Stuart’s practice include transactions for commercial real estate developments including office buildings, shopping centers and industrial properties, leasing for retail, industrial and office developments, including land leases, and the financing of leasehold estates, project financing, condominium developments, title insurance matters, joint ventures, limited partnerships and co-ownership agreements. His practice regularly brings him into contact with municipalities and other governmental and regulatory authorities, and Stuart has significant experience with respect to environmental matters, planning and subdivision matters and development matters. His practice involves due diligence and title reviews.

Stuart has also acted for clients with respect to retail cannabis locations, for clients involved in the acquisition of land rights and mining rights for the purpose of exploring for and mining of sand and other aggregates, as well as acting for a large utility company respecting the acquisition of additional water rights and with respect to the licensing for additional infrastructure relating to such additional water rights, along with experience advising on First Nations land matters.

Stuart has also recently acted for a major real estate company in completing large inter-provincial portfolio sales.
